On January 25, 2026, His Eminence Frank Cardinal Leo presided over a solemn Mass of celebration at St. Timothy’s Parish in Toronto, in commemoration of the church’s 60th Anniversary and Patronal Feast. He was joined by numerous clergy, including present and former pastors, and a packed congregation of parishioners – who braved the fiercest snowstorm of the season to be in attendance, eager to celebrate their home parish’s namesake saint and historic milestone.

In an eloquent homily, Cardinal Leo offered his congratulations on the “blessed occasion” and reflected on the generational impact of “60 years of the Word of God being proclaimed, of Holy Mass being offered up, of the sacraments being administered” for the faithful in the community. He concluded with the powerful words of St. John Paul II: “Let us remember the past with gratitude, live the present with enthusiasm, and look forward to the future with confidence.”

The Mass was followed by a reception in the church hall, where festivities included the opportunity to greet the cardinal, a celebratory cake-cutting, buffet spread and a vibrant video montage highlighting the parish’s original roots and extensive ministry work across the years.

St. Timothy’s current pastor Fr. Brenton Cordeiro, who took helm of the parish in the fall of 2025, has emphasized St. Timothy’s mission going forward as one of outreach and evangelization – a daunting but profoundly necessary undertaking in today’s increasingly secularized climate, and powerfully encapsulated in the parish’s new motto: God is on the move.

With the pews full of both young and old, and the hall crowded with longstanding members of the parish family celebrating alongside excited new faces, a palpable and prayerful spirit of joy, hope and love could truly be felt moving in the hearts of St. Timothy’s shepherds and faithful alike.
